Geo-Environmental Technician

The principal function of this position is to carry out environmental and geotechnical monitoring and sampling, as well as data management and reporting.

Monitoring Engineer (Line Manager)

Package:

WJ Groundwater offers an extensive training and development program which will commence after individuals complete their probationary period. Company Induction, Initial basic training & PPE issue will be provided from commencement of your employment.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

  • Attend site to obtain groundwater samples
  • Operate sampling equipment
  • Liaising with third parties to arrange site access
  • Liaise with testing laboratories to arrange testing of samples and delivery of consumables
  • Manage data from laboratories
  • Presentation and reporting of data within monthly and quarterly reports
  • Other geotechnical monitoring requirements associated with our works
  • Liaise with clients

This list is not exhaustive and you may be required to undertake various other duties and/or hours of work as may be reasonably be required of you at your initial place of work or at any of the company’s establishments or sites. Qualifications and Experience:

  • Ability to use computer for email, MS Word and Excel
  • A valid driving license – a vehicle will be provided
  • Awareness of geotechnical sampling and testing
  • Site experience useful, but not essential
  • Excellent verbal and interpersonal skills and written communication skills
  • Resourcefulness, initiative and the ability to work unsupervised
  • Demonstrate problem solving skills and a practical mindset

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:

Working with WJ colleagues and out clients associated with groundwater monitoring in both outdoor and indoor environments. Site locations are from Aylesbury at the south section of the project and Royal Leamington Spa at the north section. The candidate would be required to travel to site locations between the two. Flexibility to travel throughout the UK is, however, beneficial.

The job role is physically demanding in that you will need to carry equipment and sampling containers over short distances, in often outdoor environments, and in all weather conditions.
