‘A hole in one’ for WJ Groundwater who successfully drained a lagoon at the Montgomerie Golf Course in Dubai, UAE. We were set the challenge, by the main contractor Al Tayer Stocks and their subcontractor Ecocoast Contracting, to drain the golf course lagoon in one day so that a bund could be placed to allow upgrade works to be undertaken.
To meet the challenge, the WJ Groundwater team used three high-capacity electric sump pumps located on their own floating pontoons. The setup made it very easy to move the pontoons towards the deepest section of the lagoon to ensure that maximum drawdown was achieved. Two of the sump pumps were mighty 37kW models with a combined capacity of 450 l/s. The use of super-silenced generators also meant that the sump pumping solution was significantly quieter than if a conventional diesel pump had been used. This aspect also ensured passing golfers remained undisturbed.
WJ Groundwater operates a fleet of heavy-duty electrical sump pumps ranging in individual flow capacities from 5l/s all the way up to 350l/s to meet all your needs.
