More good news from WJ UK, as we’ve been awarded the FORS Silver accreditation this month. FORS – Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme, is for fleet operators with the aim of raising the level of quality within our operations. This means exemplary levels of best practice in safety, efficiency and environmental protection can be reached.
Within WJ UK, we operate 20 vans and 1 HGV which visit sites up and down the country, and now they will all be proudly displaying the FORS Silver badge, showcasing WJ UK’s commitment to exceeding the industry standard.
Already with one eye on the environment, we aim to assist every individual and organisation working with us in understanding and delivering sustainability and sustainable development by focusing on three main areas. To be FORS Silver accredited, you must maintain the requirements of FORS Bronze, plus:
- Monitor and benchmark operational performance data (logging travel, incidents, RIDDOR occurrences and transport related fines/charges).
- Show commitment to reducing fuel consumption and vehicle emissions.
- Investigate & analyse road traffic collisions, incidents and near misses to prevent reoccurrence and minimize road risk
- Use FORS Professional development to expand drivers and other staff members’ knowledge.
- To help protect vulnerable road users by fitting HGV’s with enhanced safety equipment.
- Conduct and comply with a noise impact assessment at operating centres and noise sensitive locations.
- Actively promote FORS and the requirements of the FORS Standard across the organisation.
- To require FORS accreditation throughout sub-contracted services that are delivered on behalf of FORS-specifying clients.
Being FORS Silver accredited means we are automatically compliant with CLOCS (Construction Logistics and Community Safety). Construction and fleet sectors must collaborate to address shared issues, meaning that risk is reduced when driving to/from and on-site. All drivers must meet standards set as outlined by FORS, and the CLOCS standard provides clear roles and responsibilities to ensure safe vehicle journeys.
To push for FORS Gold, we must comply with Bronze & Silver accreditation, and complete/fulfil all requirements of gold.
