On Saturday 23 July 2022 our MD Richard Fielden will be setting off to cycle from Lands End to John O’Groats (approximately 1000 miles!) in just 10 days and is hoping to raise £10,000 for Young Minds Trust, a charity which works with children, young adults and their families to help to look after their mental health.
WJ has loaned Richard and his cycling buddies one of our Welfare Vans as a support vehicle. Designed and specified by WJ to support our staff on a water sampling contract and equipped with essential features useful for a long distance cyclist (toilet! Fridge! Secure storage! Washing facilities!) it will provide some comforts on the road. It coincides with a period of reduced sampling so don’t worry; our site staff haven’t been left without their own site luxuries!
The UK faces an epidemic of childhood and adolescent mental health issues and YoungMinds is there to provide information, advice and support to young people, parents and carers. They provide information ranging from how Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) work, what your rights are, and different types of medication and support available, to how to help support your friends and family who may be struggling.
Along with Richard’s challenge, WJ have partnered with YoungMinds to raise awareness of their important work, raise funds and hopefully have some fun along the way!
