On Tuesday 6th September 2022, WJ joined more than 800 clients, contractors, designers and geotechnical experts in Central London for the annual Ground Engineering Awards.
For many, the Ground Engineering Awards mark the culmination of a year of hard work, and celebrate the achievements of companies and individuals in a wide range of categories from awards for innovation, excellence, and community engagement to individual rising star awards, to projects of the year for a wide range of values.
This year WJ were competing for the illustrious title of “Contractor of the Year”, which “celebrates the achievements of geotechnical contractors or specialist geotechnical divisions within general contracting firms that can demonstrate achievement of clear business milestones over the last year and a half. The award will celebrate firms that have continually delivered innovation, quality and value between January 2021 and March 2022, while growing in terms of revenue, profits and staff numbers”.
Unfortunately, on this occasion we were up against very stiff opposition and were beaten to the award by Bachy Soletanche. We were however highly commended, with judges noting:
“A great presentation full of energy, responded strongly to the criteria….”
Whilst it is always disappointing not to come away victorious, everyone at WJ had a wonderful evening, and are very proud of our commendation, and thankful for all the hard work our staff have put in over the last 12 months. Hopefully next year we can home from the evening as winners!
