WJ Ski Trip 2023

At WJ we work hard, but we also play hard, and after the success of our first staff holiday in 2022, twelve of our WJ UK staff, and two of our of staff from WJ ME returned to the slopes for a well-earned break!

Returning to the well-known resort of Madonna Di Campiglio i in the Brenta Dolomite Mountains of Northern Italy our teams enjoyed a weekend of skiing and snowboarding.

The resort caters for a wide range of abilities and was therefore ideal for our group which included some experienced…and less experienced on the snow! When our staff weren’t on the slopes everyone came together to sample the local cuisine and culture.

After a long weekend on the snow we held our own small awards ceremony to commemorate another successful trip with prizes given in a range of categories from “Most creative style” awarded to Design Manager Tom Rendall; to fastest skier awarded to Project Engineer Harry Lee; to “Most adventurous” awarded to our CEO Richard Fielden. The highly prestigious and sought after award for skier/snowboarder of the year was taken home by Drilling Manager Stuart Ward.

The trip wasn’t just a chance for staff to bond after a successful year for the company, but also a chance to go and visit one of our suppliers. In 2022 we visited the headquarters and factory of Italian drilling rig manufacturers Comacchio, whilst this year it was the chance to go and visit the headquarters of pump manufacturers and suppliers DAB Pumps – who supply submersible dewatering pumps across our worldwide operations. It was a very interesting and worthwhile visit and the perfect opportunity to build a closer relationship with one of important partners.
