WJ win BDA 2022 Industry Excellence Award

Building a more sustainable and environmentally friendly future for everyone is a major part of WJ’s ethos, and therefore this week everyone at WJ is celebrating WJ’s Commachio plug-in electric drilling rig winning the the Industry Excellence Award at the British Drilling Association’s Annual Awards on Saturday 12 November, at the Gateshead Hilton.

Developing Groundwater – In Conjunction with Cranfield University

Much of sub-Saharan Africa is considered to be in “economic water scarcity”, where water infrastructure is either poor or mismanaged despite sufficient water sources being present. One way to help manage this issue and provide long term water security to nations is through the construction of high-quality water wells and boreholes. In response to this, WJ, alongside Cranfield University, the British Drilling Association, and RedR UK, as well as a number of other industry partners, combined to provide the “Developing Groundwater” course during October 2022.

WJ Charity Treasure Hunt in aid of Young Minds

On the afternoon of the 30th of September 2022, 24 of WJ’s staff from our HR and finance; tendering and design; technical; monitoring; and operations departments,  and our Senior Management team took to the roads of Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire as part of a charity treasure hunt on behalf of our chosen charity YoungMinds.

WJ supporting YoungMinds Trust

On Saturday 23 July 2022 our MD Richard Fielden will be setting off to cycle from Lands End to John O’Groats (approximately 1000 miles!) in just 10 days and is hoping to raise £10,000 for Young Minds Trust, a charity which works with children, young adults and their families to help to look after their mental health.

‘Going green’ has been a big part of WJ’s ethos for a number of years as we believe it is important for us as a company and an industry to become more environmentally friendly and sustainable. At WJ this has included a signfican in new electric drilling and dewatering plant and equipment.

WJ Project Update : Bujeon – Masan Railway Project, South Korea

When the South Korean engineering and construction company, SK ecoplant, whose annual global revenues are about £4 billion, required a dewatering contractor to help to solve a problem with a series of distressed high speed railway tunnel cross passages under construction on the Bujeon – Masan Railway Project on South Korea’s south coast, they turned to WJ. Obviously.
